Chief Warrant Officer (C.W.O) Barker Kwame Ramous

C.W.O. Barker Kwame Ramous is currently the Forces Sergeant Major of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), a position he has held since June 17, 2016. Prior to this position he was the Sergeant Major of the Ghana Army from December,2015 to May,2016 and held the position in acting capacity for four (4) months prior.

C.W.O. Barker Ramous was recruited into the Ghana Army in May,1990 and has held several appointments in the course of his career including Squad Drill Instructor at Army Drill and Duties School (ACT), RSM 49 Engineer Regiment, Acting Brigade Command Sergeant Major SP Svc Bde, UNIFIL Force Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major – Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.

He is a seasoned peacekeeper and has participated in a number of UN Peacekeeping Missions around the world. He has served with United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) GHANBATT, 38,43,55,69, United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) GHANBATT 2 & 6, ECOWAS Cease Fire Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) 15 and United Nations Operation in Cote d’Ivoire (UNOCI) GHANBATT 16.

His achievements include a long service and good conduct medal in the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana @ 50 Independence Anniversary Medals (March 6,2007)

C.W.O Barker Ramous holds a Senior Secondary School Certificate and a City and Guilds Intermediate Certificate by way of educational qualification and has attended several professional courses and seminars both locally and internationally. These include The African Land Forces Summit in Malawi (2017), The Senior Enlisted Training and Leadership Development Conferences in Texas, USA and Germany, Africa Senior Enlisted Leaders Conference in Germany (2018), The US Ministry of Defense – Non-Commissioned Officer Academics in USA (2019). Other courses attended include OTEMAN Leadership Course and Sergeant Major Course and Corporate Governance Directive Training by Bank of Ghana for Savings and Loans Directors (2018).

Besides serving on the Board of Services Integrity Savings and Loans Ltd, C.W.O Barker Ramous is also a member of the Armed Forces Council and a member of the Board of Trustees to the Armed Forces Provident Fund.
