Services Integrity Savings and Loans (SIS&L) has officially commissioned its 9th branch, located at the Abilba Barracks, home of the 11 Mechanized Battalion in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region. This new branch is set to serve the financial needs of military personnel, other security services, and the general public in the area.
The opening ceremony, held on Friday, 4 October 2024, saw the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, as the Guest of Honor. In his remarks, Brigadier General Tei praised SIS&L’s steady growth in a sector that has faced significant challenges in recent years. He emphasized that the expansion reflects the company’s resilience and commitment to providing essential financial services.
Brig. Gen. Tei commended SIS&L for its unwavering dedication since its founding in 2016, highlighting its transformation into a preferred financial institution for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the wider public. He urged military personnel, both active and retired, as well as the GAF as an institution, to support and take advantage of the financial services offered by SIS&L. He noted the strong relationship between the success of the company and the welfare of the Armed Forces.
Speaking at the event, Major Amarkai Amarteifio (Rtd), the immediate past Board Chairman of SIS&L, underscored the significance of the new Bolgatanga branch, describing it as part of the company’s long-term vision to deliver innovative banking solutions with a focus on excellent customer experience.
He further highlighted SIS&L’s consistent profitability since inception, attributing the company’s success to strong corporate governance, prudent risk management, and the unwavering support from military leadership, loyal customers, and dedicated staff.

The Wa branch of Services Integrity Savings and Loans Ltd. (SIS&L) was launched on July 11, 2024, at the 10 Mechanized Battalion in Wa, Upper West Region. The branch was commissioned by Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, on behalf of Rear Admiral Seth Amoama, former Chief of the Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In his guest-of-honour speech, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei praised SIS&L for the dedication and vision shown by the construction of the new branch. He noted that SIS&L, now opening its 8th branch, has shown resilience despite industry challenges.
Emphasizing SIS&L’s values of integrity, professionalism, and innovation, he encouraged the Board and Management of SIS&L to develop products and services that meet their clients’ specific needs. “It is my fervent hope that SIS&L will flourish and become a leading financial institution in Ghana, contributing significantly to the socio-economic well-being of our personnel and the nation at large.” he said.
In her speech, CEO Mrs. Lydia Maku Daddy highlighted SIS&L’s journey since its establishment on December 1, 2016, and the importance of opening the new Wa branch. She noted that SIS&L was founded to meet the financial needs of the Ghana Armed Forces and has consistently grown and innovated. (SIS&L), was presented with an ISO 27001 Certificate by Certi-Trust an internationally certified Conformity Assessment body, specialised in assessments audits, IT Governance and Standards to ensure compliance with rules of cybersecurity, digital trust, and risk management. The ceremony was organized in Accra on Friday 15th March 2024.
In compliance with Bank of Ghana’s Cybersecurity Directive of 2018, SIS&L embarked on a process to attain ISO Certification. SIS&L was assisted in its implementation of the ISO/IEC ISO27001 Certification Standard by Innovare Ltd, a certified institution in Information Security Management systems. The programme was rolled out for SIS&L from August 2022 to October 2023.
Certi-Trust then came in to conduct a thorough Certification Audit of the ISMS programme and certified that SIS&L has met the required standard for which it qualified to attain the ISO/IEC 27001:2013. Presenting the Certificate to the Chief Executive Officer of SIS&L, Mr. Mike Kamau Regional Director of Certi-Trust, in charge of the English Speaking countries within Africa and Managing Director for East and Southern Africa, commended SIS&L for working hard to meet the criteria for attaining the ISO/IEC 270001 Certification. He urged the management of SIS&L to maintain the high standards it has established for itself. Mr. Kamau was accompanied to the ceremony by Mr. Eric Odae, CEO of IT Governance and Standards Consult, a partner and Ghana’s representative of Certi-Trust. The CEO of SIS&L, Mrs. Lydia Maku Daddy commended the Management Committee members of SIS&L for their corporation, forbearance, individual and collective efforts in attaining this feat. She was also grateful to the Directors of the company for their support. She thanked Innovare Ltd and Cert- Trust for their guidance and direction in the course of the journey.

The service is available on SIS&L’s registered short code *753# on all networks and offers customers the ability to conduct the following transactions conveniently on their mobile phones:
- Check account balance
- View transaction history (mini statement)
- Perform mobile money transfers
- Purchase airtime
- Pay bills and fees
- Transfer funds from SIS&L accounts
The launch of the USSD service was held on August 24, 2023, at the forecourt of the SIS&L Head Office in Burma Camp, Accra. Present at the occasion were Service Chiefs of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Representatives from all GAF Units–Army, Navy, Airforce, and Civilian Establishment, Board, Management and Staff of SIS&L.
Speaking at the launch, the Board Chairman of SIS&L–Major Amarkai Amartefio (Rtd), stated that the rollout of the USSD service is a key element of the institution’s digitalization strategy to offer convenient, fast, and reliable banking services to customers. He added that the company will soon develop and rollout its Mobile Banking App for both Android and iOS users as well as VISA and Mastercard ATM service amongst other digital services.
Major Amarkai Amartefio (Rtd.) highlighted the transactions on offer on the USSD service which include checking account balance, performing mobile money transfers, viewing transaction history, purchasing airtime, paying bills and fees, and effecting instant funds transfer within SIS&L accounts and to other financial institutions. He mentioned that the USSD service also enables non-customers to initiate account opening processes by providing basic KYC details.
The Board Chairman expressed that the introduction of the USSD service is particularly significant for SIS&L customers (GAF personnel) most of whom are assigned to duties at remote locations and desperately need access to their funds.
In her address, the Chief Executive Officer of SIS&L, Mrs. Lydia Daddy, stated that financial institutions (FIs) are not only competing with other banks on the high street but are also aiming for the same market share as technology and fintech companies that provide banking services directly to consumers. In view of this, financial institutions need to focus their energy and investments on improving convenience for the customer to survive. For this reason, SIS&L has been investing in technology to provide flexible and customer-oriented services. She assured customers that SIS&L is well positioned to upgrade its services into the digital environment.
Mrs. Daddy took the opportunity to announce the upcoming opening of SIS&L branches in Wa and Bolgatanga subject to the receipt of clearance from the Bank of Ghana. She appealed to customers who are yet to update their account details with their Ghana Card to do so at any SIS&L branch.
The Board Chairman unveiled the short code as the official launch of the USSD Service – SI Mobile.
Customers can dial *753# using a registered phone number with SIS&L to sign up and enjoy the new USSD service – SI Mobile.
Non-Customers can equally dial the same code *753# to initiate account opening.

Both account holders and non account holders can now receive funds from abroad through Western Union, MoneyGram, Unitylink, and Ria at any SIS&L branch.

The Ho branch of Services Integrity Savings and Loans Ltd. (SIS&L) was commissioned at the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho on the 25th of November, 2020 by the Chief of the Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces- Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa.
Lt. Gen. Akwa who was the Guest of Honour at the ceremony indicated in his keynote address that the commissioning of the Ho branch signifies the growth of the institution. He said that although a novelty in Ghana, financial institutions dedicated to the military had been successful the world over and the story is not expected to be different in Ghana. He encouraged the rank and file of the Ghana Armed Forces to patronize the products and services of SIS&L, as the institution was set up to cater for their financial needs and enhance their economic fortunes and welfare.
Lt. Gen. Akwa further entreated the Board and Management of SIS&L to thoroughly study the peculiar needs of the personnel and civilian employees of the Ghana Armed Forces in order to continuously develop tailor-made products to serve them better.
The Board Chairman of SIS&L – Major Amarkai Amarteifio (Rtd) on his part said that SIS&L had been successful in taking a firm position in the savings and loans industry despite entering the space during the banking reforms. He indicated that SIS&L had launched several banking products and services tailored to meet the needs of the personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces; notable amongst them being the Mission Deployment Advance (MDA), Loan Refinancing, Personal Loans and Salary Advance products. He called on all GAF personnel to bank with SIS&L.
